VINZ on Fairfax

Los Angeles, California | Exterior Shades

The five-story luxury apartment building features five metal mesh sails that span vertically across four levels. They create a bold aesthetic, especially at night when LED lighting affixed to the top of the frames washes the sails in color. For residents, the mesh adds privacy and shading to windows and balconies. Steel frames attached to the building’s primary structure support the sails.

"The Cambridge metal mesh ultimately proved to satisfy the high-performance and aesthetic standards for our project, while fitting within our client’s budget. The porosity of the mesh adds some privacy to the exterior balconies, while allowing view and light through for occupants. It also helps cut out some of the less desirable low angle sunlight for the residential windows and balconies behind the mesh."
