The renovation and expansion of the suburban library branch north of Washington, D.C. called for a new entrance sign and solar shading. By sandblasting raw stainless to produce a dull matte finish, the etched library name runs diagonal across a large flexible mesh screen mounted over the branch entrance. The same mesh pattern shades the afternoon sun on the west facade.
