Georgia Bioscience Training Center

Social Circle, Georgia | Decorative Façade and Interior Shading

The majority of the training center’s exterior is clad in a custom-weaved rigid mesh that creates a distinctive, high-tech design. In addition to creating a striking state-of-the-art appearance, the mesh shades interior lobbies, classrooms and laboratories. At night, it becomes a backdrop for a wall wash of LED lighting that glistens in a variety of colors. Inside, flexible mesh surrounds an open air, elliptical courtyard to screen sunlight and the center’s main conference room.

"We infused stainless steel into the exterior design to capture the performance benefits of shading while expressing the connections of the system which enhance the client’s brand of a decidedly hi-tech facility. The mesh delaminates from the main façade with facet and plane changes to provide a dynamic, crystalline aesthetic with ever changing shadows and reflections that suggest a sense of movement."
